Sentences of Scripture.
Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my
heart, be alway acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my
strength and my redeemer. Psalm xix. 14.
The hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers
shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the
Father seeketh such to worship him. St. John iv. 23.

O COME, let us sing unto the LORD; * let us heartily
rejoice in the strength of our salvation.
Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving; * and

above all gods.
In his hand are all the corners of the earth; * and the
strength of the hills is his also.
The sea is his, and he made it; * and his hands
prepared the dry land.
O come, let us worship and fall down, * and kneel

Benedictus Dominus.
BLESSED be the LORD my strength,
* who teacheth my hands to war, and my
fingers to fight:
My hope and my fortress, my castle and deliverer,
my defender in whom I trust;
* who subdueth my people that is under me.
LORD, what is man, that thou hast such
respect unto him?
* or the son of man, that thou so regardest him?
Man is like a thing of nought;
* his time passeth away like a shadow.
Bow thy heavens, O LORD, and come down;
* touch the mountains, and they shall smoke.
Cast forth thy lightning, and tear them;
* shoot out thine arrows, and consume them.
Send down thine hand from above;
* deliver me, and take me out of the great waters,
from the hand of strangers;
Whose mouth talketh of vanity,
* and their right hand is a right hand of wickedness.
I will sing a new song unto thee, O God;
* and sing praises unto thee upon a ten-stringed lute.

in our streets.
Happy are the people that are in such a case;
* yea, blessed are the people who have the LORD
for their God.

The First Lesson
Jeremiah 14:1-9
The word of the LORD that came to Jeremiah concerning the dearth.
Judah mourneth, and the gates thereof languish; they are black unto the ground; and the cry of Jerusalem is gone up.
And their nobles have sent their little ones to the waters: they came to the pits, and found no water; they returned with their vessels empty; they were ashamed and confounded, and covered their heads.
Because the ground is chapt, for there was no rain in the earth, the plowmen were ashamed, they covered their heads.
Yea, the hind also calved in the field, and forsook it, because there was no grass.
And the wild asses did stand in the high places, they snuffed up the wind like dragons; their eyes did fail, because there was no grass.
O LORD, though our iniquities testify against us, do thou it for thy name's sake: for our backslidings are many; we have sinned against thee.
O the hope of Israel, the saviour thereof in time of trouble, why shouldest thou be as a stranger in the land, and as a wayfaring man that turneth aside to tarry for a night?
Why shouldest thou be as a man astonied, as a mighty man that cannot save? yet thou, O LORD, art in the midst of us, and we are called by thy name; leave us not.

The Second Lesson
I John 5:5-15
Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God? This is he
that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the
Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth. For there are three that bear record in heaven, the
Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. And there are three that bear witness in
earth, the spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one. If we receive the witness of
men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of God which he hath testified of his Son. He
that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a
liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son. And this is the record, that God hath
given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the
Son of God hath not life. These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of
God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth
us: And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we
desired of him.
Benedictus. St. Luke i. 68.
BLESSED be the Lord God of Israel; * for he hath visited and
redeemed his people;
And hath raised up a mighty salvation for us, * in the
house of his servant David;
As he spake by the mouth of his holy Prophets, * which
have been since the world began;
That we should be saved from our enemies, * and from
the hand of all that hate us.
To perform the mercy promised to our forefathers, * and
to remember his holy covenant;
To perform the oath which he sware to our forefather
Abraham, * that he would give us;
That we being delivered out of the hand of our enemies *
might serve him without fear;
In holiness and righteousness before him, * all the days

The Apostles' Creed.
I BELIEVE in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth:
And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord: Who was conceived by the Holy
Ghost, Born of the Virgin Mary: Suffered under Pontius Pilate, Was
crucified, dead, and buried: He descended into hell; The third day he
rose again from the dead: He ascended into heaven, And sitteth on the
right hand of God the Father Almighty: From thence he shall come to judge
the quick and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Ghost: The holy Catholic Church; The Communion of

trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, But deliver us
from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for
ever and ever. Amen.

Rogation Days
ALMIGHTY God, Lord of heaven and earth; We beseech thee to
pour forth thy blessing upon this land, and to give us a fruitful
season; that we, constantly receiving thy bounty, may evermore
give thanks unto thee in thy holy Church; through Jesus Christ
our Lord. Amen.
The Fifth Sunday After Easter (Rogation Sunday)
O LORD, from whom all good things do come; Grant to us thy humble
servants, that by thy holy inspiration we may think those things which
are good, and by thy merciful guiding may perform the same; through
our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
A Collect for Peace.
O GOD, who art the author of peace and lover of concord,
in knowledge of whom standeth our eternal life, whose service
is perfect freedom; Defend us thy humble servants in all assaults
of our enemies; that we, surely trusting in thy defence, may not
fear the power of any adversaries, through the might of Jesus Christ
our Lord. Amen.
A Collect for Grace.
O Lord, our heavenly Father, Almighty and everlasting God,
who hast safely brought us to the beginning of this day; Defend
us in the same with thy mighty power; and grant that this day
we fall into no sin, neither run into any kind of danger; but
that all our doings, being ordered by thy governance, may be
righteous in thy sight; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
A Prayer for the President of the United States
A Prayer for the Clergy and People.
Almighty and everlasting God, from whom cometh every good and perfect
gift; Send down upon our Bishops, and other Clergy, and upon the
Congregations committed to their charge, the healthful Spirit of thy
grace; and, that they may truly please thee, pour upon them the continual
dew of thy blessing. Grant this, O Lord, for the honour of our Advocate
and Mediator, Jesus Christ. Amen.
A Prayer for All Conditions of Men.
O God, the Creator and Preserver of all mankind, we humbly beseech thee
for all sorts and conditions of men; that thou wouldest be pleased to
make thy ways known unto them, thy saving health unto all nations. More
especially we pray for thy holy Church universal; that it may be so
guided and governed by thy good Spirit, that all who profess and call
themselves Christians may be led into the way of truth, and hold the
faith in unity of spirit, in the bond of peace, and in righteousness of
life. Finally, we commend to thy fatherly goodness all those who are any
ways afflicted, or distressed, in mind, body, or estate; [* especially
those for whom our prayers are desired;] that it may please thee to
comfort and relieve them, according to their several necessities; giving
them patience under their sufferings, and a happy issue out of all their
afflictions. And this we beg for Jesus Christ's sake. Amen.
